Beech Bark Park Project

"To establish a fenced in, off-leash dog park where well-behaved dogs can exercise in a clean, safe environment without endangering or annoying people, property or wildlife. To develop a beautiful, well-maintained space open to all dog lovers and friends who are willing to uphold the park's rules and restrictions. To view this park as a community project, designed to satisfy the needs of dog-owners and non-dog owners alike."

For some time the Town has sought to establish an upscale Dog Park to meet the needs of residents and visitors. That time is finally here and the Town officially opened the doors to the “Beech Bark Park” in December and expect to host a true grand opening this summer. The bark park is a joint effort between the community, the Town of Beech Mountain and the Beech Mountain Club. This project has been fully funded with private donations to date and fundraising is still underway.

The Bark Park is located at the far northeast corner of the “Kite Field” between the Brick Oven Pizzeria and the Pinnacle Inn tucked right alongside Phase II of the Town of Beech Mountain Streetscape Project. This beautiful, partially wooded parcel of land is now complete with a large parking area, is located within pedestrian friendly distance to town hall, Fred’s, and other shopping and dining options along Beech’s commercial corridor, and features an expansive large dog area, small dog area, entrance corral, pet waste stations, play features, and some of the best views around.

Plans for the park also include a hiking trail/walking path that circumnavigates the park for pet owners to utilize while their dogs play, a large covered picnic pavilion, additional play features, picnic areas, a series of workshops open to the public and will play host to BJ’s annual dog show this summer!

Again, fundraising efforts for this project are still underway, so please help contribute to the ongoing growth and expansion of this park facility and its variety of amenities that are sure to please you and your pet alike! Information on how to donate can be found at or by calling 828.387.3003.
